Love/Hate : Dirty Dishes Carpets

This week’s Love/Hate (and the first of 2012) is all about textile designer Bev Hisey’s carpet collection “Dirty Dishes”.
Each carpet is an image of a microscopic zoom of some kind of illness including Botulism, Anthrax and Influenza (follow this link if you want to find out which is which).
They’re pretty creepy, kinda cool but kinda disgusting… I love the idea but I’m not sure that these patterns are attractive enough to justify the end result. What do you think?

  1. Yep, not cute. Pretty creepy. She did a good job of really making it look like bacteria on the floor. I can see how that might be fun in a grade-school-aged boys bedroom, though…I imagine in a room with either a lot of other patterns, or almost no other patterns.
