The Camden Watch Company Automatic Range

After over a year of work, I’m so very happy to be able to finally share our latest project, The Camden Watch Company Automatic Range, live on Kickstarter now.

The overarching idea inspiring the design of the dial comes from traction engines, a Victorian invention that revolutionised manual labour.

The numbers and surrounding frame are inspired by the front plate found on these engines, and the machined pattern in the centre of the dial is inspired by the detailing found on Victorian steam engines in general.

As an added industrial touch we have used a circular brushed metal finish on the dial, ensuring that although it is still classic, it is also a thoroughly modern design.

Iceland 2016

We recently took our 2nd trip to Iceland, a country so beautiful that every time you leave you can’t help but want to return.

This time we made a short video, including the black sand beaches of Vik and the glacier lagoon of Jökulsárlón.

If you’re a designer of any sort, then no doubt you are just as obsessed with beautiful typography as I am. “Ginger Monkey“, otherwise known as Tom Lane, is an amazing typography artist that has worked with such a huge range of clients and on such a wide range of products that I almost don’t know where to start. Product Design: ‘CMDN’ Camden Watch Company Backpacks

We recently launched ‘CMDN’, the lifestyle branch of The Camden Watch Company. One of the products we worked on were roll-top, waxed canvas backpacks.

The backpacks had to fit the Victorian, vintage look and feel of the brand, whilst also being practical to wear and of course and stylish. We researched styles, materials and colours and started designing. After two rounds of sampling, numerous designs and a lot of strong coffee, our backpacks our now available to buy.

Widely used from the 1850s onwards, waxed canvas is an extremely durable woven fabric that is impregnated with wax, originally used for sails and waterproofing by the Royal Navy and on British tea-clippers.

The backpack has two exterior pockets, one interior pocket and a laptop pocket.

Another Collective are a great branding studio out of Matosinhos, Portugal. Their work is smart and chic with a touch of rustic charm and oozes with Portuguese sunshine.

German photographer Andreas Levers has a portfolio that I could spend hours flicking through.

My favourite collection is his bleached out, desaturated ‘Modern World’ series. A collection that features bold lines, strong symmetries and barely any people or traffic, lending the photographs an eerie, post-apocalyptic feel.

Viktor Egyed is a ‘landscape, nature and fine art amateur photographer’ from Slovakia. He has a really great eye for light and reflection, creating captivating and hauntingly beautiful photographs.
